The base reward is +10 Intimacy EXP, Talent, Martial Art or Music, along with +2 Eloquence. Side exchanges reward the confidant with intimacy EXP or attribute points, as indicated by the symbol next to the letter. Playing through a Main exchange always awards the player with a Confidant Box (regardless of whether a new ending is unlocked or not). Additional pigeons can be purchased for ingots, and obtained through the Easy Communication skill in the Ministry of Works. Pigeons and confidants will then need to rest for nine hours. Mailbox items can be used to triple the rewards from Side exchanges. Likewise, each confidant will only accept a letter every three hours. The rest period can be shortened by paying ingots. After carrying a letter chain, pigeons will need to rest for three hours before they can carry another. Only one Main exchange per confidant will show up at a time if the player unlocks more than one, they will have to play through the first one before the next will arrive.įor Side chains, the player has a certain number of pigeons to use. Pigeons carrying Main exchanges will appear at the top of the Pigeon Mail screen. Not yet unlocked chains will display unlock criteria, whereas unlocked chains can be read through. The player can view the letter chains of all owned confidants through the Book of Fate. These letter chains appear to be generic/randomized, rather than specific to certain confidants. Doing this raises the likelihood of obtaining that confidant during travel. Occasionally there will be an opportunity to exchange letters with a not-yet-acquired confidant. Playing through Side exchanges counts towards the "send letters actively" objective of various events. The Sides are initiated by the player, and can be replayed at will. These exchanges can only be replayed by using the Sand of Time item to reset them in the Book of Fate. Mains always have multiple paths for the player to take through picking different answers. The Main exchange is initiated by the confidant as soon as the requirement to unlock the chain has been met. Each confidant has a number of letter chains, each consisting of a "Main" and three "Side" exchanges.
